Making a difference for the disadvantaged in Wakefield

There be Dragons...

On Saturday 11th July 2015 our intrepid team of oarsmen and oarswomen the “CAP Carers” took to the dangerous waters of Pugneys lake in Wakefield to risk life and limb for the cause in the 7th Rotary  Dragon Boat Challenge…

Under the steady drumbeat of our own Sue the team attempted to coordinate their efforts to propel the boat across the lake to the finish line. The team competed in three heats against the clock, getting faster each time, and finished in a very credible 21st place out of 33 teams – and it is very noteworthy that our team included one of the oldest competitors in John McGuire at a very energetic 69!

It was a fantastic day, brilliantly organised by the Rotary Clubs of Huddersfield and Wakefield Chantry, and a SIGNIFICANT amount of sponsorship (exact amount yet to be determined) was raised for the work of CAP Care in the process thanks to so many incredibly generous people who dug deep on our behalf. Thanks to you all!
